You will be based in our Osaka or Tokyo office and will have the opportunity to shape the role and engage on a range of initiatives within the broader Japan People function. You will have the opportunity to shape and drive a range of initiatives within the compensation and people analytics space, some of which are described below.
You will be collaborating closely with the global compensation function, local leadership in Japan, team leaders, recruiting, finance/payroll, and other colleagues in all compensation related matters. Our compensation function’s mission statement is to enable the talent imperative and innovation with one firm while stewarding firm resources by developing an attractive (and competitive) value proposition to capture the right talent; ensuring equity within and across paths to support growth and movement; and upholding and driving innovation in our people mission firm-wide
You will seamlessly collaborate with colleagues to assess compensation pressure and develop recommendations on whether compensation caps and ranges need to be modified.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
You will act as the “local market compensation lead” representing Japan.
In this role, you will own the end-to-end compensation process for all colleagues based in Japan. For example, this includes the mid-year and year-end processes, role changes, transfers and rotations, advancements, external offers, and departures.
You will lead the external compensation benchmarking analysis for all roles based in, ensure we have a robust understanding of external market compensation trends so that our compensation practices are structures are competitive in our market. Other activities may include creating training materials and best practice tools for our local colleagues, and conducting planned / ad-hoc analyses as requested.
In addition to compensation responsibilities, you will also lead all analytics related to people in Japan (e.g. monthly dashboard/scorecards, attrition trends, historical performance analysis, etc.). You will promote a data-driven mindset by bringing facts together, analyzing data, and developing the storylines for problem-solving discussions.
You will prepare and syndicate data analytics and provide thought partnership to people team colleagues and leadership. ・University degree preferred
・5+ years experience in a compensation related role (either in-house or at a market benchmarking firm); experience building financial models
・Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with ability to tell stories through data
・Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with presence to interact with colleagues at all levels
・Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail
・Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
・Fluent in spoken and written English
