You will identify and gather relevant company, industry and economic information using a broad spectrum of appropriate sources.
In this role, you’ll perform a variety of analyses such as benchmarking, trend identification, industry profiling, market sizing, growth projections, opportunity scanning, etc., in order to add value to problem-solving discussions. You will also provide synthesis, insights, and practical implications via end products in the form of single exhibits, written summaries, basic fact packs and spreadsheets. You will master the basic McKinsey capabilities and insights toolkit (fluency in McKinsey terminology and concepts, understanding of the firm’s knowledge network, knowledge of core information/data sources) and will actively contribute to the workflow/activities within the global team.
Over time, you will develop expertise in one or more areas and help the firm build its knowledge base in these areas. You’ll provide our clients and consultants with guidance on leveraging databases maintained by the Japan geographic research team. Your work will be multifaceted and exciting, and you will gain insights into many industries and topics.
There is flexibility to hire at either the junior capabilities and insights analyst or capabilities and insights analyst level depending on your qualifications.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree from a premier institution
• 2 years work experience as securities analyst or industry research analyst at a bank, researcher at a think tank, market research company, or consulting firm, or other research-related role in a business group
• Sound understanding of business, basic finance and Japan’s economy
• Proficiency with online database searches and MS Office applications
• Superior problem solving and analytical skills
• Ability to work proactively and independently as well as in a team
• Willingness to work on wide variety of research topics in a highly demanding and results-oriented team environment
• Excellent written and oral English communication skills; native Japanese language skills
