As a Barclays Vice President Chief Control Office | Markets Ops Rigour, you will be partnering with the business and provide controls-related subject matter expertise by helping them comply with requirements under the Barclays Control Framework (BCF) in a sustainable manner. You will also help them to achieve compliance through implementing strategic plans.

We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. Depending on your team, typically this means that colleagues spend a minimum of between 20% to 60% of their time in the office, which could be over a week, a month or a quarter. What will you be doing?
Understanding and implementing a Governance framework that enables Markets to achieve its business goals in a demonstrably safe and controlled manner
Working with business and functions on all aspects of risk and control related activities
Working collaboratively with business and functions to compile reports on the status of Governance for the business line Risk and Control meetings, and regulatory enquiries
Ensuring the Asia Markets business has documented processes, risk assessment & controls and evidenced in accordance with regulation/ Barclays Control Framework
Ensuring the business has the capability to identify, design and implement appropriate business controls and testing and quality assurance that ensures risks are flagged
Liaising with senior leads in Front-Office, Operations, Compliance and other functions on Risk and Control, Production Performance, Incident, Problem and Change
Providing advice, education and awareness relating to issues management as part of continuous improvement and enhanced service framework

What we’re looking for:
Ability to influence at senior management level and apply judgement to balance risk versus business interest whilst ensuring compliance to all relevant policies and standards
Understanding and knowledgeable on aspects of Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF), Operational Risk Framework (ORF) and Barclays Control Framework (BCF)
Experience of working in or within a Control type role/team with the ability to demonstrate a risk management mindset
People management skills
Skills that will help you in the role:
Effective written and oral communication skills both in English and Japanese, with the ability to present credibly to senior stakeholders
Highly experienced in dealing with multiple stakeholders in different business functions who have different objectives e.g., Barclays Internal Audit, Risk, Compliance, Fraud, Legal
Excel skills including extensive experience in managing large quantities of data, pivots, formulas, Vlookup
Ability to provide thought leadership through bringing together insight and analysis including external knowledge
