JOB DESCRIPTION
As part of the Corporate Function Audit Team you will be responsible for assessing the adequacy and effectiveness of the control environment globally across Compliance, Risk and Location Governance. You will be involved in assessing controls over AML/KYC, Sanctions, Compliance, Risk and other Corporate Function activities.
Job Summary:
You will primarily be responsible for the coverage of Compliance including Financial Crime Compliance and Risk in Japan. This role will provide you with the opportunity to develop a detailed understanding of Compliance and Risk functions, as well as working with regional and global stakeholders and audit colleagues in continuously improving the control environment. You will have the opportunity to build and maintain relationships whilst providing control related advice to business stakeholders.
Job Responsibilities:
You will lead and participate in Japan location and other regional or global audit engagements from planning to reporting and produce quality deliverables to both department and professional standards while ensuring audits are completed timely and within budget.
You and your team will conduct audits independently and efficiently, including risk assessment, audit planning, testing, control evaluation, report drafting and follow-up and verification of issue closure.
You will support the location auditor in responding to regulatory requests and exams relating to Compliance and Risks topics.
You will provide senior audit management and internal stakeholders timely updates and insight on the design and effectiveness of control practices and highlight risk areas.
You will be able to keep abreast of evolving regulatory changes, industry trends and emerging risks to drive appropriate ongoing audit coverage in close partnership with the wider Audit team.
You will seek for opportunities to use data analytics to provide audit assurance and insight.

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills:
Minimum Bachelor's degree in Finance, Law or related discipline and/ or other relevant professional qualifications, e.g. CPA, CIA, CAMS etc.
8 years internal/ external audit or relevant control assessment experience within a financial services organization preferred, with at least 3 years Financial Crime experience including AML/KYC and Sanctions
Good understanding of Japan regulatory environment
Thorough understanding of risk and internal control concepts as well as audit methodology with the ability to evaluate and determine the adequacy and effectiveness of controls and articulate complex issues.
Strong analytical skills and able to research independently and form opinions supported by evidence.
Proven experience in leading audits and working effectively within a matrix organization, manage multiple projects and participate in audit assignments in a team environment.
Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex and sensitive issues to senior management, and influence change.
Proven ability to be able to multi-task, complete projects on time and on budget, and adjust to changing priorities.
Ability and knowledge of using innovative automated auditing tools.
Team player, willing to help others and participate in department activities with enthusiasm.
Proficiency in both Japanese and English is a must.
