Investment Specialist Role Summary

As an Investment Specialist(“IS”), you will actively engage in maintaining and developing relationships between the Investment desks and Client Advisor teams. You will represent your investment team on business related matters, including, but not limited to marketing, product development, fund commentary and sales/retention strategy. Job Responsibilities
The Investment Specialist (“IS”) is the de facto equivalent of a Product Manager, responsible for all aspects of the business except for investing. The IS will work in close partnership with Portfolio Managers and other IS in New York, London and Hong Kong including on business strategy, product strategy and distribution strategy for Japan.
The IS will partner with the Client Advisor (“CA”) to pitch for new business and will be the voice of the strategies in conferences, road shows, seminars and training. Engaging with the sales teams across distribution channels is essential to jointly develop distribution strategy, targets and tactical plans. The IS is then responsible for implementing guidelines and coordinating on-boarding for new institutional or sub-advised mandates.
The IS will be the primary point of contact with the client on investment matters, i.e., portfolio results and positioning. As such, the IS must have complete credibility with both the Portfolio Manager and the client. The IS will conduct Quarterly/Annual account reviews and commentary making in fund reports. The IS is responsible for ensuring that the client has the information they need to be fully informed.
The IS will also be responsible for overseeing and coordinating monthly portfolio and mutual fund reporting when required, including commentaries and performance data, working closely with internal teams that produce this content.
The role will belong to Equity and Multi-asset investment strategy team in Japan. The role is expected to cover foreign equity funds. Though the role focuses on equity, it will be required to engage multi asset fund’s business as necessary, making use of equity expertise. Therefore, candidate who has strong skill set on equity and motivation to learn multi asset funds is preferred. Relevant knowledge and work experience on multi asset is not required. The role will report into the Executive Director, Head of Equity and Multi asset investment strategy team based in Japan.

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
Extensive knowledge and experience in Equity investing
Strong communication and presentation skills for wide range of Japanese client, from investment professionals to beginners.
Ability to act as a fiduciary, with strong work ethic and positive attitude
Team player, combined with the ability to work on own initiative
Excellent time management - able to prioritise issues and respond in a timely manner
Solid analytical and computer skills – Bloomberg, Excel, PowerPoint
Excellent communications in both Japanese and English
Preferred qualifications, capabilities and skills
Client facing experience and/or investment decision making as Equity analyst or fund manager is a plus.
Experience on product manager and/or investment consultant is also a plus.
Python coding skill is a plus
CFA, or equivalent qualification is preferred.
