About the Solutions & Services

Solutions & Services is part of Fidelity’s Client Propositions function which exists to connect client needs to Fidelity’s investment capabilities in the form of products, solutions and services. The team operates globally aiming to deliver commercial client outcomes. The client base is divided broadly between retail/wholesale and institutional. Clients are global and cross channel in Europe, including the UK, Asia, Japan and the Middle East.

The main objective of the Solutions & Services team is to support the development and growth of Fidelity’s business – by listening to clients and bringing together the different areas of Fidelity’s capabilities to design and build solutions which meet specific client needs. To achieve this, the team is responsible for representing the investment capabilities of Fidelity to prospective and existing clients, aiming to be the partner of choice, developing Solutions and Services to address our clients' needs, enhance existing relationships and develop new ones. We work globally with Distribution and across IM to deliver optimal client outcomes which are commercially attractive. We also aim to broaden engagement with clients – showcasing FIL expertise enabling earlier engagement in the client decision making process as we move from working with clients in a reactive manner to a proactive interactions with clients and consultants.

The team are also responsible for supporting and developing the engagement model with investment teams, the Portfolio Research and Engineering team, the SAA/Macro team, operational teams and distribution to ensure that new solutions are fit for purpose, in line with client requirements as well as co-ordinating with investment teams to develop new products and innovation. This requires strong engagement with distribution, investment management and senior management to evaluate new business opportunities, assess and ensure that the solutions design and strategies delivered to clients are consistent with the investment management approach across the business as well as building relationships with key strategic clients.

Success in this field requires a strong knowledge of investment, a deep and continuously developing knowledge of portfolio strategies, a capacity to communicate these in different formats and an ability to support sales teams through direct client relationships where appropriate. The Solutions & services team is a globally-integrated team with representatives in London, Frankfurt, Tokyo and Hong Kong.

Purpose of your role

The purpose of this role is to provide representation for Asia (incl Japan) distribution and business development initiatives for Solutions & Services. The role holder will work closely with country heads, sales and marketing leads and sales champions to drive business development and client engagement efforts for Solutions & Services. They will also be a key contact representing the Asia region.

The individual would represent the Client Solutions and Services team in building relationships with existing and prospective clients, working in close collaboration with Fidelity’s distribution, marketing and client onboarding teams.
The role requires a broad understanding of Fidelity’s capabilities and potential client base, communication across the firm, a focus on identifying opportunity and commercial possibilities while focusing on solving the challenges our clients face, with the aim of building a scalable business.
The individual will have a number of responsibilities including:
Build awareness of Fidelity’s Solutions and Services capabilities among internal and external stakeholders;
Showcase Fidelity’s solutions capabilities to clients;
Focus on converting client conversations into tangible opportunities;
Collate and interpret trends and market insights
Determine desirability, feasibility and viability of prospective opportunities to ensure that a commercial outcome is understood and achievable;
Manage the opportunity development / delivery timeline with clients and distribution teams, to ensure successful delivery and partnership.
Build and develop client pipeline, work alongside Asia sales teams to achieve client wins
Work collaboratively with the wider Solutions team to support the development of the conversation with clients as we design solutions
Key focus on the education and support of the Fidelity sales force in building their understanding of the solutions capability - provide guidance to help Distribution teams understand and identify solutions opportunities and support the inclusion of the solutions team in client conversations
Coordinate and provide internal training / updates / experience sharing
Develop a clear understanding of the strategic client coverage models, business strategy, objectives and priorities, as well as the systems organization and infrastructure

Experience and qualifications required

A client and service focused mindset
Strong communication skills and an ability to empathise - applies to others internally at Fidelity and our clients.
A passion for investing and a broad knowledge of current and historic market and asset class trends, levels and valuations
A grounding in portfolio theory and investment concepts
Strong interpersonal skills, preferably with experience of working in a large team, and engagement with stakeholders
A strong commercial sense and desire to grow and expand Fidelity’s business
Strong presentation skills, including the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts and to influence audiences in both small and large-scale forums
Highly collaborative and a team player
Proactive approach and a ‘can-do’ attitude to take ownership and resolve issues.
Ability to engage and influence both internal and external senior stakeholders
Planning, prioritisation, problem solving and organisational skills. Ability to balance multiple tasks
