About this role
Business Unit Overview:
Mission of Finance is to be a trusted business partner and an industry thought leader supporting optimization of stakeholder value and act as a fiduciary by ensuring high quality financial reporting and rigorous risk oversight and controls.
Job Purpose:
Responsible for carrying out activities of the Finance functions in Japan, which include controller activities (corporate accounting, statutory reporting, transaction processing), financial planning & analysis activities (forecasting, budgeting, monthly management reporting and analytics), corporate tax and treasury activities.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for accounting and statutory reporting in Japan, including monthly regulatory filing to regulators, semi-annual financial reports prepared according to Company Law and Financial Instruments and Exchange Law (FIEL) of Japan
Responsible for annual tax returns fling and semi-annual tax payments process
Support the Head of Finance for treasury and risk management considering regulatory capital requirements under FIEL
Support the Head of Finance for interfacing with regulators, tax authorities and auditors on matters related to finance
Support the Head of Finance, who needs to work with senior management through participation in Board meetings, Executive committees and other forums to ensure proper governance of the local legal entity
Oversee activities performed by India and Singapore for Finance functions outsourced to those countries

Skills and Qualifications:
Minimum 5-7 years of experience with a similar profile, preferably including investment management and/or financial industry experience
Demonstrated ability to communicate within BlackRock, including Finance, both locally and across geographies
Strong knowledge of financial accounting in both Japan and US GAAP, tax laws of Japan and legal and regulatory requirements for financial reporting and regulatory capital adequacy ratio
Certified Public Accountant, Chartered Accountant or equivalent qualification desirable
Good communication and engagement skills at all levels
Leadership skills with key focus on people development
Influencing skills a key attribute
Japanese and English language skills
